October 30, 2024 – The International Transnational Education Association (ITEA), in collaboration with Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta (UPY), proudly co-hosted the UPY-ICCCM UPINCESS 2024 Conference, an event that brought together experts from several countries to explore the vital role of education and social sciences in addressing global crises.
The conference opened with remarks from Dr. Ir. Paiman, Rector of UPY, who set an inspiring tone for the discussions that followed. In his opening speech, Dr. Paiman emphasised the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange in tackling global challenges. The event continued with an impactful keynote address by Prof. Mohammad Nuh, the Honorary President of ITEA, who shared invaluable insights on how education can empower societies to navigate and mitigate the impact of worldwide crises.
Adding to these insights, Mr. Ivan from ITEA represented Dr. Ayda Belgacem of IHE Sousse Business & Law School, leading a session on the critical roles that education and social sciences play in analysing and resolving complex global challenges. Dr. Tina Amelia, S.H., M.H., Director of PT Kaya Ilmu Bermanfaat, who offered valuable perspectives on educational innovation. This discussion underscored the significance of cross-cultural collaboration in developing effective solutions.
Other distinguished speakers included:
Professor Dr. Gulzhaina K. Kassymova of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University presented on Education Innovation to Address Global Challenges, where she highlighted the critical need for innovative educational strategies to tackle today’s global issues effectively. She emphasised that adaptive approaches in education are essential to preparing students for the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world.
Associate Professor Dr. Saprolla Rollie Cale Deporos from Ateneo de Davao University contributed her insights with a presentation on The Role of Social Science in Analysing and Resolving Global Crises. Dr. Deporos discussed the pivotal role that social sciences play in understanding and addressing crises, stressing the discipline’s unique ability to offer perspective on complex social and global issues.
Lastly, Mr. Taufik Muhtarom, M.Pd., Ph.D., of Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta, Indonesia, presented Strengthening the Role of Education in Building Resilient Communities. Dr. Muhtarom underscored the power of education to build resilience within communities, highlighting its importance in equipping societies to confront and adapt to global challenges effectively.
The UPY-ICCCM UPINCESS 2024 Conference demonstrated a shared commitment to advancing knowledge and building collaborative frameworks for tackling some of today’s most pressing global issues. This gathering was a testament to the power of education and social sciences in driving progress and fostering unity across borders.
