The International Cultural Communication Center Malaysia (ICCCM), in collaboration with Universitas Negeri Malang (UNM) as the co-host, successfully organized the International Workshop on Zero Waste on March 12, 2025, via Zoom. The event brought together experts, academics, and practitioners to discuss sustainable waste management strategies and their impact on global health and the environment.
The workshop commenced with opening remarks from Prof. Dr. Markus Diantoro, M.Si. (Head of the Research Institute and Community Engagement – RICE, Universitas Negeri Malang) and Mr. Benjamin (Deputy Director of ICCCM). Both speakers emphasized the importance of international collaboration in addressing global waste challenges and promoting sustainability through education and research.
Distinguished keynote speakers included Mr. Sjamsu Agung Widjaja (Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Kota Yogyakarta), Dr. Eli Hendrik Sanjaya (Universitas Negeri Malang), Mr. M.S. Ahamed Riyad Rooly (South Eastern University of Sri Lanka), and Dr. Mahfuza Parveen (Daffodil International University, Bangladesh). They shared valuable insights on innovative and sustainable waste management. Two panel discussions explored collaborative strategies for a zero-waste future and the impact of zero waste on health.
